Sustainability Report 2018

Here at SSE plc, we are working hard to manage the impact we have upon our environment and the society that we work in. As part of our core purpose to act in an ethical, responsible and balanced way, we have published our annual Sustainability Report this month.

We like to demonstrate transparency in our sustainability strategies and share other initiatives we’re taking that will have a positive impact on the UK. Key highlights in 2017/18 include:

• A new carbon ambition to 2030: to reduce the carbon intensity of SSE’s electricity production by a further 50% by 2030, based on 2018 levels;
• New environmental commitments around energy and water use within non-operational buildings;
• New gender balance ambitions for women in senior leadership in SSE’s post-demerger business; and
• Reporting early on SSE’s UK payment practices and performance information, ahead of legal requirements.

We know we can’t achieve all this on our own, and we are committed to finding innovative solutions through collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. We look forward to sharing our journey to sustainability.
