One of the things that drew me to work for SSE Business Energy a few years ago was the fact that SSE prides itself on being a responsible company, and works hard to do the right thing. SSE has been Fair Tax accredited for three consecutive years and has been a Living Wage accredited employer in the UK since 2013.
These values resonate with me at a personal level so, since joining SSE Business Energy, I have spent time with our Sustainability Team to understand, in depth, the work that they do. What was eye-opening to me was not just the wider societal benefits this approach delivered, but also the commercial ones as well. The ‘ah ha’ moment for me was when I realised this juggling act of wanting to do the right thing, whilst still providing a return for investors, was a dilemma faced not only by us, but all our business customers be they large or small.
